Interview with the two founders of nevernot

Interview with the two founders of nevernot

June 03, 2023

Today I would like to introduce you to Anna Kössel and Katharina Trebitsch. They are not only good friends of the alqemist, but also entrepreneurs who launched nevernot in the middle of the pandemic three months ago. Privately, I've known them both for a long time but now our paths are intersecting professionally as well. CBD and menstruation are closer than many think.

Julian: What is nevernot and what do you do?
Katha: nevernot is our company and heart project at the same time. We quit our jobs to establish nevernot in the sexual wellness market. Our first product is a soft tampon.
Anna: A product that has been around since the 70's, but that over 70% of menstruators don't know about at all, even though it is absolutely great. It is made of soft foam and comes without a string, which makes it absolutely unnoticeable when worn. No annoying little ribbon that gets in the way at the beach or in the sauna.
Katha: Exactly. Plus, you can use it during intercourse without feeling your period or having to clean the sheets at the end. But we already have the next products in the pipeline, not all of which have something to do with menstruation.

Julian: Part of the reason we're having this conversation today is because the alqemist CBD oil and the nevernot soft tampon are a great duo.
Anna: That's right. Periods suck, we're not going to change that either. But we can make it more comfortable. Our customers repeatedly report that they have less vaginal dryness when they use our tampon and simply don't notice that they are having their period or that they are using a menstrual product.
Katha: Just in terms of pain, that's where you guys come in. Most menstruators turn to painkillers when they have severe period cramps or other discomfort; we now solve that with CBD oil. It has made my cramps better and I feel like my mood swings are leveling off as well.

You just launched a campaign with the hashtag #FuckPeriodShaming and your packaging looks like candy. Where's the connection there?
Anna: Periodshaming manifests itself differently and to different degrees around the world. In Western countries, girls are not excluded from school, as is sometimes the case in India. But to this day, many menstruators are ashamed to ask for a tampon or sanitary pad.
Katha: And that's why the candy branding! It was important to us not only that nevernot looks better than conventional period products, but that there is also something behind it. We hope to lower the shame threshold for passing on such products.
